On September 20 of this year in Urumqi (Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, China), within the framework of the largest trade and economic exhibition in the western part of China, VII EXPO “China-Eurasia” “KAZAKH INVEST”, together with the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the PRC, the Kazakhstan Entrepreneurs Forum was organized -China (Xinjiang).

The organizers of the bilateral Forum on the Chinese side were the People’s Government of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (XUAR) of the People’s Republic of China and the China Council for Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) of the XUAR.

The event was opened by the first head of the region, Secretary of the Party Committee of the XUAR of the People’s Republic of China, Ma Xingrui, who expressed the interest of the XUAR in actively establishing mutually beneficial investment, trade and economic cooperation between enterprises of the region and the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Kazakh side was represented by the Chairman of the Presidium of the Atameken NPP Raiymbek Batalov, the General Director of QazTrade JSC Azamat Askaruly, the Advisor to the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in China Sultan Kinzhakulov, the Managing Director for Development and Privatization of Samruk-Kazyna JSC Yernar Zhanadil, as well as the General Director of the LLP “Samruk-Kazyna Invest” Saken Abilmazhinov.

Kazakh speakers presented business opportunities and prospects for cooperation between enterprises of the Republic of Kazakhstan and XUAR, noting mutual participation in trade and economic exhibitions and events, the development of mutual trade, the export potential of Kazakh finished products, current cooperation between state-owned companies of the two countries, as well as prospects for participation in investment projects with the participation of national companies of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Chairman of the Board of NC KAZAKH INVEST JSC Meirzhan Yusupov emphasized in his speech that Kazakhstan and China are actively developing a comprehensive strategic partnership, strengthening good neighborly relations. He added that Chinese companies are one of the main partners for Kazakhstan in the implementation of large investment projects and take an active part in the industrialization of the republic. Also, the head of the national company called on Chinese partners to take an active part in investing in the economy of Kazakhstan to develop progressive and mutually beneficial cooperation.

The general representative of KAZAKH INVEST in China, Kuanysh Amantai, presented the investment opportunities of Kazakhstan and spoke in detail about measures of state support for foreign investors in the republic.

The Chinese side was represented by the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhang Xiao, Chairman of the Board of Xinjiang Sanbao Industrial Group Kan Heping, General Director of the Goldwind Technology Central Asia Center Sun Lianhua, First Deputy General Director of Yema Group Chen Gang, General Representative of the EBRD in China Li Xinxing and other guests.

The speakers spoke about the current trade and economic cooperation between the parties, the economic advantages of the XUAR, promising areas for expanding cooperation and expressed interest in implementing projects in the fields of transport and logistics, agriculture, energy, e-commerce, science, chemistry and mechanical engineering.

In total, more than 200 representatives of Kazakh and Chinese enterprises, business and trade and economic structures of the two countries took part in the Forum. The online broadcast of the event was watched by more than 15 million people.

During the Forum, enterprises from the two countries signed 11 commercial documents totaling $475 million, including projects such as the production of zirconium concentrate, the construction of a smart greenhouse and the production of gas blocks. Thus, “NC “KAZAKH INVEST” JSC signed a Memorandum on the development of mutual cooperation with the “China Council for Promotion of International Trade” XUAR of the People’s Republic of China.

On behalf of the Chinese side, the event was attended by Vice Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Hu Chunhua, Deputy Minister of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China Wang Shouwen, Secretary of the Party Committee of the XUAR of the People’s Republic of China Ma Xingrui, as well as Governor of the XUAR Erkin Tuniyaz.

More than 3 thousand enterprises from 32 countries of the Eurasian region take part in the EXPO. Kazakhstan is presented in the status of “main guest country”.
